WHAT IS IT?
- This program will greatly improve the speed of your
internet connection if you have a cable modem or other
type of high speed internet access. By making changes
to the Windows default MTU settings, Cable Booster will
let you get the most out of your connection.
_____________________________________________________
REMOVE
- The tweaks can be undone through the Add\Remove
applet found in the Control Panel.

KNOWN ISSUES
- Some types of connections are not compatible with
these types of tweaks. If you do not have an ethernet
NIC, your connection may react badly to these tweaks.
Also, if you have a DSL connection and your ISP has
implemented PPPoE, you should not use this program.
- The tweaks involved may cause problems on some
systems. The uninstall will remove all critical
changes made by the program.
- DOS commands may hang. This might cause the install
to freeze as well.
- For some unknown reason, your Windows version number
may be wrong. If you are CERTAIN you know which
version of Windows you are running, you can run the
WinVersionFix.exe file to 'correct' the problem.

SOFTWARE STATUS
- This program is donationware. This means you are
allowed to use as long as you want, at no cost.
But feel free to send me $5 to further the cause. =)

FURTHER TWEAKING
- These tweaks have been known to improve connection
speed even further! Beware! Geek talk below!
Setting the Transmit Threshold on your network card
to 128 is said to improve performance. The setting is
located under in the Network applet of the control panel.
Your Adapter Name > Properties > Advanced > Trasmit Threshold
Setting up a large IRQ buffer for your network card helps too.
You'll need to get the IRQ setting from the device info in your
system properties.
Navigate to Start > Run and type sysedit . Find the [386enh]
Section in the System.ini file and add Irq[n]=4096 under it,
where [n] is the IRQ number of your NIC and 4096 is the amount
of RAM you want to reserve in bytes. I recommend using 4096,
however you can experiment with different values if you want.
Save changes in the file, exit and reboot for changes to take effect.
